We released a poll a couple of weeks ago asking our users what they would like to see on the site. The overwhelming response was the ability to upload your music directly to the site and the chance to buy and use your own domain name, like www.PaulLovesKatherine.com.

You asked, we listened! Presenting two great new features.

Music

Anyone with a premium site can upload MP3s to their site. Uploading music directly to your site allows you to:

• Play music on your site without interruption. Music will no longer stop and start every time your guests view a new page on your site.
• Bypass music widgets. Most music widgets are complicated to setup and their service can be unreliable. Save yourself the pain and hassle!
• Control how you want your music played. Setting playlist options like repeat and autoplay are a click of a button away.

Check out an example of our music player at work on our premium example site (password is momentville). To upload music go to the Settings->Music tab once you’ve logged into your site.

Personal Domain Names

If you’ve wanted a special domain name for your wedding website this feature is for you. Finding and buying a domain name can be done easily without having to leave your MomentVille site! It is also available for both free and premium sites.

Step 1 involves logging in and going to the Settings->Web Address tab. Step 2 involves seeing if the domain you want is available. Step 3 involves choosing how many years you want the domain for and filling out a single secure payment form on our site. All of it takes less than 5 minutes.

Although buying a domain through MomentVille is the easiest and most convenient way to setup a personal domain name, you can also buy a domain from any seller and transfer it to our site. You will need a premium MomentVille site to transfer it though.

Today we’ve launched 70 new wedding website themes. Each of these themes are paired with modern wedding invitations from our partner Modern Girl Invitations!

Now you can get a whole range of modern, stylish wedding stationery that match the theme of your wedding website. You can get save-the-date cards, invitations, thank you cards, and other stationery all in the same color and style as your wedding website. There are a lot of designs to choose from, and most of the designs come in a range of colors.

If you see designs on ModernGirlInvitations.com that you really like, but you don’t see in our themes, be sure to let us know!

Making your own wedding website can be an important and fun part of your wedding. We get lots of great feedback from couples who are just so happy that they decided to use MomentVille to create their wedding website.  For those who have yet to make their own wedding website, there are a number of reasons that you should consider making one.

A wedding website can be very helpful for sharing information about your special occasion. Putting all the details of your wedding on your website can avoid the need for a bunch of emails and phone calls.  A wedding website lets you put all the information in one place, where your guests can quickly and easily find it.  To make this communication with your guests even easier, MomentVille has a few great features to help. First, guests can subscribe either by email or RSS so they get notified any time you update your wedding website.  Second, you can share your Momentville updates on Facebook.  Third, our new wedding RSVP system allows you to send emails to guests and the invite system includes vCal calender events.

Another great reason to create a wedding website is so that you can capture the memories from your wedding online! Imagine, on your first, 5th, or 50th wedding anniversary looking back at all the guestbook, photos, videos, and other wedding info in one place!  What a great way to relive the joy of planning and celebrating your marriage.  Wedding websites on MomentVille help you out by allowing you AND your guests to upload photos. In addition, wedding websites on MomentVille (unlike our competitors) never expire.  Your memories don’t expire, why should your website?

Wedding websites can also help you plan for your wedding.  You can use an online RSVP to keep track of guests. (This can also save money). Online guest books are also a great way to get comments or request from your guests.  Why not use a guestbook to let your guests pick the music they want to hear?  You can also find wedding vendors in your area, or find wedding essentials via our online wedding shop.

There is no shortage of great reasons to make a wedding website, but planning, sharing, and remembering are 3 key ones that ultimately guide us as we continue to improve MomentVille.  We sincerely hope our service helps you to achieve those things.

Today we’re launching a great new feature: advanced invitation and RSVP tracking for your MomentVille wedding website!  With each MomentVille website you can create invitations and track responses for different occasions.  This lets you invite and track guests for events such as the rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, the reception, or any other occasion of your choosing.

We’d like to introduce a few basic concepts that will help you to use these great new planning tools for your wedding website.  The first is the idea of an occasion.  Weddings and other special events often have one or more particular occasions around them, such as bachelor parties, showers and of course the wedding itself!  You can track each of these occasions using the same wedding website.

For each occasion you can create an invite.  Once you are ready the invite is sent in a stylish email to your guests.

Guest names and emails can be imported from online email accounts like Hotmail and GMail to make adding guests fast and simple.  You can even arrange guests into groups, so you can have a bridal party group, a family group, or any other group you choose.

You can also associate an invite with an RSVP.  Not all invites need to have an RSVP. For example, you may want to send a ‘Save The Date’ email out to your guest, but may not want to track their responses quite yet.

If you add an RSVP to an invite, the response of the invitees will be tracked, and displayed nicely for you to make your planning even easier.  You can request your guests to give you their mailing addresses and ask custom questions in your RSVP too.  This is a great option for tracking meal choices or any other burning questions you need to ask your guests.

Finally, in the admin area of your website, you can view and export all the responses into a spreadsheet file that will let you do things on your local computer such as mail merges, etc.

We are VERY excited with our newest feature: the ability to create your own custom theme for your wedding website.  We’ve had so many requests for particular themes that we weren’t able to keep up.  To fix that, we’ve created a theme builder which will allow you to build exactly the theme you want for your wedding website.  You can use your own images or choose from our library of images. You can also select the fonts and colors so that you can create exactly the look and feel you want.

Most of our current themes can be built with theme builder, so that gives you some idea about what is possible.  That is only the beginning though.

How do I use it?

Anyone can build a custom theme as described in the link above.  Applying it to your website will require that you have a premium website.  This lets you test it out so that you can build the theme you want, and see exactly how it will look before making the decision to upgrade.

We have some custom options for free sites too!

You can already change the font style and color of ‘Text’ and ‘Photo and Text’ elements on your wedding website.  Along side the new custom theme feature we’re making it easier for you to set the font and color for your whole website in one place.  At the top of the Theme Tab you will now see a link that says ‘Edit Font For… ‘ which will let you set the font, color, and bold/italic for all the elements (including the element titles) on your website!  You can still overwrite the colors of individual Text elements as well.  You can learn more about it here.
