Wedding Video 101
Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009Wedding video is something that a lot of people are unfamiliar with. First of all, let’s talk about the “Videographer”. The term is the same as photographer, but pertains to one who shoot video. A videographer will be the person behind the video camera.
Some people ask, “Why have a vidoegrapher if I’m paying for a professional photographer?”. Others ask “Why have a photographer if I’m hiring a videogapher?”. It’s a good idea to have both. There are things that a videographer can capture that a photographer cannot. Take for instance the toast. A photographer can not capture the emotions of the made of honor getting choked up during her speech.
Lets take a look at the difference in several styles of wedding video:
Video Journalistic style is typically described as Documentary Style. This has some editing but the final product is most of the shoot footage.
Cinematic, the term is defined as making a movie or film.
Storytelling a video that relies on sound bites recorded pre, during or in post, usually from the bride and groom.
Traditional, is mostly the family or friend style of shooting with little to no editing.
A good videographer will not limit themselves to one of these categories, they will allow the customer to choose how they want their day captured.
