Create A Custom Theme For Your Wedding Website

We are VERY excited with our newest feature: the ability to create your own custom theme for your wedding website.  We’ve had so many requests for particular themes that we weren’t able to keep up.  To fix that, we’ve created a theme builder which will allow you to build exactly the theme you want for your wedding website.  You can use your own images or choose from our library of images. You can also select the fonts and colors so that you can create exactly the look and feel you want.

Most of our current themes can be built with theme builder, so that gives you some idea about what is possible.  That is only the beginning though.

So how do you start?

How do I use it?

Anyone can build a custom theme as described in the link above.  Applying it to your website will require that you have a premium website.  This lets you test it out so that you can build the theme you want, and see exactly how it will look before making the decision to upgrade.

We have some custom options for free sites too!

You can already change the font style and color of ‘Text’ and ‘Photo and Text’ elements on your wedding website.  Along side the new custom theme feature we’re making it easier for you to set the font and color for your whole website in one place.  At the top of the Theme Tab you will now see a link that says ‘Edit Font For… ‘ which will let you set the font, color, and bold/italic for all the elements (including the element titles) on your website!  You can still overwrite the colors of individual Text elements as well.  You can learn more about it here.

Since this feature is new, we definitely want to hear your feedback on it!

Wedding Website Themes Updated

Yesterday we launched some small changes to the themes.  Many themes have changed slightly, but look as close to the original as possible.  In all cases, they will look more consistent across all the different browsers that your guests may use.  This is in preparation for a new feature being launched soon. 

You may also notice some extra spacing in your text. Previously you had to hit enter twice to get a space between paragraphs. This is no longer the case. Our servers have cleaned up most of the extra spaces, but may have missed some based on how much formatting is in your text.  If you see extra spaces between paragraphs on your wedding website just let us know.

A few new features to let you know about

We’ve added a few new features that we had been getting a lot of requests for from our users lately. We find them quite useful and hope you will too! Here’s a short list of what we’ve come out with.

  1. Multiple Organizers: Each event can now have several organizers (administrators), with each organizer using their own login to edit the site. Previously couples had to share an account to be able to both edit a site. You can now have as many site organizers as you want. To use this feature login to your site and go to Settings -> Event. You’ll see a ‘Add A New Organizer’ section which will allow you to grant editing privileges to another user by entering their email address. Make sure you trust your fellow organizers though, as they have FULL control over the site!
  2. Password Protect Individual Pages: Our premium websites now have the option to password protect each page individually, each page can have it’s own password. This is handy if you have a page that you only want a few people (like the bridesmaids, or your parents) to see. Previously you could only password protect your entire site, so anyone with the password would be able to see all of the content on the site.
  3. More control over guest image uploads: We’ve gotten some great feedback for our new guest image upload feature, but one problem was that guests could either post images to all of your galleries or none of them. We’ve now introduced a feature that let’s you control exactly which galleries your guests can post to, so you don’t have to worry about having pictures from your wedding added to your engagement photos. Exciting Changes For Wedding Websites & Wedding Vendors

As you probably noticed, we launch a major update to MomentVille recently.  There are a lot of great new features and enhancements bundled into this release and we think you’ll find some of them very exciting.

In the coming days we’ll write more in detail about each of the major new features, but we wanted to started off with an overview of the changes.

Let Your Guests Upload Their Photos

This is the feature we are most excited about.  Now, unique to MomentVille, you can allow your guests to quickly and easily upload their photos of your wedding to your website.  Now, you can have all the photos in one place!

New Navigation

First and foremost you’ll notice a change to how you navigate around your website.  When you are logged in there is now a green band along the top.  We call this the user area.  You can navigate this manage your website.  The update provides more consistency and content into exactly where you are and where you should go to perform a certain action.  It was based on some great user feedback, so thanks to all those who helped shape this new navigation.

Wedding Vendors

One of the new tabs in your user area is a vendors tab.  If you provide information on when and where you and your wedding are we personalize a list of vendors that are best suited to your needs.  As with all things we do, we are trying our best to be genuinely helpful.  You can recommend and review vendors, and these ratings will affect the vendors shown to other brides in your area. 

New Design

We’ve also updated the design of our homepage and other areas of the site to provide an easier to read and navigate system.  We expect that you will be able to quickly find the information you need in order to build your own wedding website quickly and easily.

 
There are a range of smaller features and enhancements, but these are the majors ones and we’ll talk about each of these in more detail in separate blog posts.
