RSVP, Guestbook, and Q&A Back Online

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

It’s been a few hours since we discovered the spam problem and it is now time to provide an update. It is important to us that we remain open and honest with our users.

The spambots that were attacking us were limited to only a very small number of websites. We have since upgraded our spam filters to use a 3rd party commercial spam fitler that manages millions of comments each day. We expect their filters will perform better and incidents of spam will drop significantly. We have hence re-enabled all posts. If you notice any more spam, please let us know.

We have also cleaned our database of spam guestbook posts. If you are missing any posts please let us know, but only the spam should be gone.

Many of you will ahve received emails again letting you know that you got a guestbook post on yoru website. We apologize for the duplicate. It was a result of reloading the entries without spam.

Temporarily Disabling Guestbook, RSVP, and Q&A

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

A small number of our users have started receiving spam on their websites.  We DO NOT find this acceptable and are doing everything we can to stop it.

We temporarily disabled all Guestbook, RSVP and Q&A elements while we update our spam filters to block these new spam bots.  We apologize for any inconvenience. We expect to have things back online soon.

New Modern Themes and New Main Site Structure

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

Today we launched 7 new themes!  You can see them at the bottom of our wedding website themes page.

Five of the new themes are ‘floral’ themes.  They have a more modern feel and modern colors.  Again, these were as a result of requests from our users!  We currently have a backlog of theme requests that we are trying to get through as quickly as we can.

Also, it’s worth noting, the layout of the main site has changed ever so slightly.  This is only a minor update that will make the main site of MomentVille easier to navigate, so if you are looking to learn how to do seomthing, or are wanting to learn more about the features available to you, it should be easier to find.  The best way to navigate is still to use the links at the bottom right of any page.

Green Wedding Resources

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

At MomentVille we are concerned about keeping things green.  That is why our wedding websites are carbon neutral!  We are also concerned with making sure things are as easy as possible.

Planning a wedding is a lot of work, and trying to make it even a little bit more green can often seem like a daunting task.  A lot of our users have expressed interest in keeping things more green, so we’ve done a review of some green wedding online resources that you may find useful.  Our favorite 3 websites are listed below.

Portovert has a great list of green wedding vendors and some excellent articles on things such as eco-invitations.

BluePlanetWedding.com also has a nice list of resources sortable by geography and have recently started a green wedding blog which has been updated quite regualarly for the past few months.

Greatgreenwedding.com has a green wedding blog that gets updates very frequently and has lots of interesting ideas.  The main site contains several useful articles aboutwedding favors, flowers, rings, etc.

There are plenty more resources out there but the above three have a good base of information and are often adding new articles which is why we recommend that you check them out!

More New Wedding Website Themes

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Today we launched 6 new themes. They are available for all of our wedding websites.   You can check them out on our wedding website themes page.

There are 3 bamboo themes and 3 paisley themes.  Again, these themes were at the request of our users. For these two cases, they were particularly requested by our users of Chinese and Indian heritage (respectively) because of the common occurance of those symbols in traditional Chinese weddings or traditional Indian weddings.

You will also notice several smaller changes to most of the existing themes. We’ve spent a bunch of time updating the way we handle themes so it will be easier to add new wedding website themes in the future.

Please keep the wedding website theme requests coming!

Private or Public RSVPs for Premium Wedding Websites

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Many of our users like the current RSVP.  Some have said that their guests are keen to know all the details they can, so sharing RSVP responses with everyone is ideal.  MomentVille is the only wedding website provider to offer free RSVPs and public RSVPs.

We have also had some requests for private RSVPs.  Some of our users would rather not have their guests see who else is coming or not.

So, private RSVPs is a featured we’ve added today as a premium feature.  If you would like to have the RSVP responses contained to a private area that only you can see you can now do that by upgrading to a premium website.

Both free and premium websites will now have a ‘RSVP’ link in the user area at the top.  This is only visible when you are logged in.  By clicking on this link you can see all of the RSVP responses.  For a premium website there will be the option each RSVP element on your wedding website public or private.  Public RSVPs will have responses shown on the website itself.  Private RSVPs will not have responses shown on the website.

Did you know that you can have more than 1 RSVP element on your website?  Perhaps you want people to RSVP to a wedding shower and RSVP to the wedding itself?

We have also removed the ‘maybe’ option from the RSVP by default.  Responding ‘maybe’ doesn’t really make sense for a wedding, but does make more sense for something like a wedding shower.  If you still want guest to be able to respond ‘maybe’ you can do this again by upgrading to a premium website.

In the future we will be adding more ways to customize your RSVP (eg selecting meal choices).  The ability to customize the RSVP will be limited to premium websites.  We have some other exciting planned features for wedding websites coming over the next few months, so stay tuned!
