Adding A Wedding Map To Your Wedding Website

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

We’ve just posted a new how to article about adding a wedding map to your wedding website.

Typically we don’t announce new how to articles on the blog, but we feel that this one is worth noting.  A wedding map is a great addition to any wedding website.  This is especially true when the map is interactive and will allow people to get directions and understand the area of the wedding a little better.

We hope you find this article helpful and further hope you feel it makes your wedding website even better!

Premium Wedding Websites Now Available

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

Today we are introducing a new premium wedding website service with some very exciting features that go beyond our already great free wedding websites. We think many of our users will find the premium service quite useful. To start off with, you get 3 extra features if you upgrade to a premium wedding website.

  1. You won’t see ads any more.
  2. You can password protect for your website to restrict who is allowed to view your website.
  3. You can see stats on how many times each page on your wedding website has been viewed.

We will continue to add more features to both our premium and free wedding websites, so stay tuned! We have some very exciting features coming!

We do need to reiterate that we will continue adding to BOTH our premium and free wedding websites. We started MomentVille with a commitment to always offer free wedding websites that are:

  • the easiest to use
  • stylish
  • available forever

Our free wedding websites will continue to have more features than the paid websites from other places, and we’ll never restrict how many pages you can have, or what you can put on those pages (like other places do). It is YOUR website after all. You should be able to make your page exactly the way you want. We’ll also continue to add exciting extra features for our premium users.

Improved Page Management For Your Wedding Websites

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Today we launched a new and improved way to manage the pages for your personal wedding website.

You can now easily add, rename, show/hide, reorder, and even delete the pages on your website in the usual intuitive nature that we strive for.

When you are logged in and editing your wedding website you will notice a new item in the ‘user area’ (top right of your website).  There is now a link for ‘Pages’.  To manage the pages for your wedding website, click on this link and you will be brought to the ‘Pages’ settings page.  Here you will see a list of the pages on your website, each one in a box. Here is a list of what you can do:

  • To MOVE a page (so that it appears in a different order in your website menu) just drag and drop the page to a new position.  You can also do this directly on your website.
  • To RENAME a page just click on the name, type the new name for the page into the box that appears, and hit ‘Save’.  You can only rename pages here (not on the website itself).  Renaming a page is ideal if you want to convert your website to another language, or if you just don’t like the names we used to start you off with.
  • To ADD a page go to the bottom and you will see a section called ‘Add A New Page’.  Just type in the name and hit the ‘Add’ button.  An empty page will be added and it will be shown by default.
  • To SHOW OR HIDE a page just check (to show) or uncheck (to hide) the checkbox beside the name of the page.  Hit ‘Save Changes’ to make the changes final.  Hiding a page will keep the contents of it saved, so this is better to do than deleting it.
  • To DELETE a page just click on the ‘X’ button to the right of the page name.  Please be careful when deleting pages. You get a warning, but if you do delete the page everything on it will get deleted and you won’t be able to get it back!

One final note on page names.  Each name must be unique, and it will converted to a word with ‘_’ instead of spaces for the url.  The converted name must also be unique.  There are also a few reserved words that you can’t use (i.e. ’settings’). When adding a name you will get a warning if you break any of these rules.  When renaming a page there won’t be a warning, but you will see the old name after you hit ‘Save’ if you break any of these rules.

So now you will have more options to manage the pages on your personal wedding websites which will allow you to make them even more personal!
